1786 8/17/1786 David Crockett is born in Tennessee. 

1791 12/5/1791 Spanish Priest Fray Jose Francisco Garza begins a peace offensive to establish missions along Texas Coast.

1793 3/2/1793 Sam Houston is born in Rockbridge County, Virginia. 

1793 11/3/1793 Stephen F. Austin is born in Virginia. 

1795 2/21/1795 Mexican President and General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna is born in Xalapa (1794 or 1795).

1797 7/17/1797 Philip Nolan receives a passport to go to Mexican Texas.

1798 7/23/1798 "Mother of Texas" Jane Wilkinson Long is born in Charles County, Maryland.

1798 8/16/1798 Mirabeau B. Lamar, who is to become the second President of the Texas Republic, is born in Louisville, Georgia. 

1803 12/5/1803 Thomas Jefferson Rusk, first United States senator from Texas, and president of the Constitutional Convention of 1845, is born in Pendleton, So. Carolina.

1806 10/28/1806 Juan Seguin is born in Mexican Texas.

1806 11/5/1806 Spain and U.S. come to agreement that boundary between Texas and Louisiana is neutral ground.

1807 2/20/1807 James Butler Bonham is born in the area of Saluda County, South Carolina.

1807 10/20/1807 Former  U. S. Vice President Aaron Burr found not guilty of treason.

1807 11/11/1807 Ephraim Blackburn, one of the nine survivors of the Philip Nolan Expedition near Waco, rolls his dice and is "The Unlucky One" hanged in Chihuahua, after violating the king of Spain's edict against entering Mexico.

1809 8/9/1809 William Barret Travis is born in the area of Saluda County, South Carolina.

1811 1/23/1811 During the fight for Mexican independence, rebels jail the Spanish governor in the Alamo at San Antonio.

1817 4/3/1817 Texas Ranger "Bigfoot" Wallace is born in Lexington, Virginia.

1818 9/12/1818 A hurricane wrecks the sailing fleet of pirate Jean Lafitte in Galveston.

1819 2/22/1819 President John Quincy Adams signs Adams-Onis treaty, renouncing U.S. claim to Texas.

1819 6/8/1819 The Long Expedition crosses the Sabine River to declare a "government" in Texas.

1819 6/17/1819 Doctor James Long, along with 75 men, fled to Nacogdoches, where he would declare Independence for Texas.

1819 6/23/1819 Texas Provisional government declares independence from Spain.

1820 12/23/1820 Moses Austin seeks the granting of permission to colonize a part of Mexican Texas.

1821 1/16/1821 Mexico grants permission for Moses Austin and 300 American families  to settle in Texas.

1821 1/17/1821 The Mexican government grants Moses Austin permission to settle 300 families in Texas.

1821 5/4/1821 Jean Lafitte abandons Galveston.

1821 6/10/1821 Moses Austin dies in Missouri, before he can begin his Texas Colonization plan.
