2016 6/1/2016 The Brazos River in Texas surged to its highest in more than a century in an area outside of Houston. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flash flood watch for large parts of the state and said storms lasting until the weekend could send even more rivers over their banks.

2016 12/31/2016 In Texas a federal judge granted a temporary injunction that stopped federal health officials from enforcing rules that are intended to ban discrimination by doctors and hospitals against transgender people.

2017 1/16/2017 U.S. astronaut Eugene Cernan, born in 1934, the last man to walk on the moon, died in Houston, Texas. Cernan, James Lovell and John Young were the only three astronauts to voyage twice to the moon.

2017 2/1/2017 Texas Rep. Gov. Greg Abbott blocked funding for the first time over sanctuary cities after Austin's Sheriff Sally Hernandez said she would stop honoring all immigration holds in her jails following President Trump's inauguration.
