1925 12/7/1925 West Texas Historical and Scientific Society organized at Alpine.

1926 3/20/1926 World famous engineer and surveyor Colonel Charles Swift Riche, a figure closely connected with the making of the Houston Ship Channel, dies from heart trouble. Riche made the first survey of the channel and did more than any other engineer to bring this dream to fruition.
